Credit ratings

A credit rating is assigned to an issuer of securities or its debt securities. Credit ratings are forward-looking opinions about the ability and willingness of debt issuers to meet their financial obligations on time and in full. They provide a common and transparent global language for investors and other market participants, corporations and governments, and are one of many inputs they can consider as part of their decision-making processes.
The rating is a tool for increasing market transparency. It is free for the investor, public and provides issuers’ comparability.
The rating industry in Russia operates in accordance with specialised legislation (222-FZ "On the Activities of Credit Rating Agencies in the Russian Federation") and is regulated by the Bank of Russia. Rating activities in Russia can only be carried out by a rating agency accredited by the Bank of Russia.
